Berlin International Gaming and BWI GmbH extend their partnership with expanded commitment

Berlin International Gaming (BIG) and BWI GmbH, the digitalization partner of the German Armed Forces, are extending their successful partnership for another year and expanding their collaboration in esports. The goal is to further increase reach and visibility while creating synergies in the area of employer branding.

In addition to supporting the Counter-Strike 2 male and female teams (BIG EQUIPA) and the Trackmania team, BWI will now also support BIG’s successful Fortnite team. The team recently won the FNCS Major with star player Taylor-Petrik “Vic0” Gatschelhofer and has already qualified for numerous top international tournaments.

The cooperation includes joint event appearances, diverse content formats, and workshops at the BIG headquarters in Berlin as well as external locations for BWI employees and future applicants. Alongside the professional players, Tobias “tow b” Herberhold—former pro player, head coach, entrepreneur, and current advisor to BIG—is also involved in joint activities, contributing his expertise.

Following last year’s successful launch, we’re especially excited to expand the cooperation to Fortnite and jointly set new impulses in the areas of community, employer branding, and content.

Community tournaments and additional new formats are planned for the coming months.

BWI is one of the largest IT service providers in Germany. In times of peace, crisis, and war, it delivers stable, secure, and efficient IT services for the German Armed Forces—both domestically and abroad. In doing so, it contributes to the continuous enhancement of the leadership, operational readiness, and combat effectiveness of the armed forces. Since its founding in 2006, BWI has significantly expanded its service portfolio. It provides expert consulting, rapidly develops new IT solutions for the Bundeswehr—“innovative by design”—and plays a central role in building a resilient partner ecosystem. As an attractive employer, BWI attracts and retains highly qualified professionals who advance Bundeswehr IT out of conviction. Today, more than 7,700 employees across Germany stand behind BWI’s vision as a “Team of Teams”: to ensure the Bundeswehr’s IT capabilities and thus Germany’s digital future-readiness.

“We are very happy about the success of the partnership with BWI—on all levels!” says Daniel Finkler, CEO & Co-Founder of BIG. “Following last year’s successful launch, we’re especially excited to expand the cooperation to Fortnite and jointly set new impulses in the areas of community, employer branding, and content.”

The sports business agency SPORTFIVE once again brokered the deal between BWI and BIG.
